From the tropical rainforests of Cat Tien National Park to the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An and the traditional villages of northern Vietnam, this tour is designed for photographers who want to experience both wildlife and culture in one incredible adventure.

Photograph colorful pittas, broadbills, pheasants, and endangered primates including the spectacular Red-shanked Douc Langur and the critically endangered Delacour’s Langur. Along the way, immerse yourself in Vietnam’s rich traditions with visits to incense villages, fishing communities, ancient towns, and bustling local life.

This is a complete photography experience focused on birds, wildlife, people, culture, and storytelling.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport where you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel.

Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

Travel to Ma Da Forest for our first rainforest bird photography session. The bird hides here offer excellent opportunities to photograph some of southern Vietnam’s most spectacular forest birds in beautiful natural settings.

Target species include the stunning Bar-bellied Pitta, Blue-rumped Pitta, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Indochinese Babbler, Puff-throated Babbler, Buff-breasted Babbler, Abbott’s Babbler, Black-crested Bulbul, Stripe-throated Bulbul, Gray-eyed Bulbul, Ochraceous Bulbul, White-rumped Shama, Hainan Blue Flycatcher, and Indochinese Blue Flycatcher.

In the afternoon, continue to Cat Tien National Park, Vietnam’s premier lowland rainforest and one of Southeast Asia’s top bird photography destinations.

Spend two full days exploring Cat Tien National Park, home to extraordinary birdlife, mammals, and pristine rainforest habitats.

Bird photography sessions at hides and forest trails offer opportunities to photograph Bar-bellied Pitta, Blue-rumped Pitta, Siamese Fireback, Germain’s Peacock-Pheasant, Green-legged Partridge, Black-crested Bulbul, Stripe-throated Bulbul, Gray-eyed Bulbul, Puff-throated Babbler, Buff-breasted Babbler, Abbott’s Babbler, Hainan Blue Flycatcher, and Indochinese Blue Flycatcher.

Along the forest trails we will also search for species such as Banded Kingfisher, Black-and-red Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, and Orange-breasted Trogon.

The park also provides excellent opportunities for wildlife photography, including encounters with Black-shanked Douc Langur and Yellow-cheeked Gibbon.

After a final morning session in Cat Tien, return to Ho Chi Minh City for a domestic flight to Da Nang.

Begin exploring the Son Tra Peninsula, one of the best locations in the world to photograph the magnificent Red-shanked Douc Langur.

Spend time photographing the endangered Red-shanked Douc Langur in the lush coastal forests of Son Tra Nature Reserve.

We also explore the magical town of Hoi An, famous for its colorful lanterns, riverside streets, traditional architecture, and vibrant local culture.

Enjoy a final wildlife session before flying to Hanoi and continuing to Van Long Nature Reserve in northern Vietnam.

This peaceful wetland reserve is surrounded by dramatic limestone landscapes and is home to the critically endangered Delacour’s Langur.

Explore the wetlands of Van Long by traditional sampan boat while searching for Delacour’s Langur and photographing the beautiful karst scenery of northern Vietnam.

Bird photography opportunities may include Yellow Bittern, Indochinese Swamphen, White-breasted Waterhen, and other wetland species.

After a final morning session in Van Long Nature Reserve, transfer to Hanoi.

Today focuses on cultural and documentary photography around Hanoi and nearby traditional villages.

Visit the colorful Quang Phu Cau Incense Village, a traditional soy sauce village, and a bamboo fishing trap village where local artisans continue centuries-old crafts.

  • Failure to make payments within this timeline could result in tour cancellation.
